Trail Description:
Jackman Flats consists of four interlocking trails – Pine Tree, Lichen, Juniper and Big Dune. These are relatively flat trails, hot and sandy in summer. There are beautiful mountain views and interesting lichen ecosystems. The lichen crush easily underfoot so stay on the trail and keep dogs on leash. There are interpretive signs along the well-marked trails. Wild blueberries and cranberries grow along the trail in late summer. In winter, the trails are track set for cross-country skiing and dogs are discouraged as they can damage the tracksetting.

Worst Parts: Because of all the dead pine trees, there is sometimes deadfall on the trail.

Head north from Valemount. Watch for the turn-off on Hwy 5 roughly 12.5km north.
